Report to Congress Dedicated to Work of Christopher Bergin and Tax Analysts
Today, Tax Analysts and its leader, Christopher Bergin, received praise in a report to Congress from the national taxpayer advocate.

In her 2015 annual report to Congress, National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson praised Christopher Bergin, president and publisher of Tax Analysts, for his “leadership of the organization and its tireless advocacy for transparency in the tax system and of taxpayer rights as fundamental to the fairness of that system.”

The report also cited the inaugural International Conference on Taxpayer Rights, sponsored in part by Tax Analysts, for laying the foundation for continuing work and scholarship in the area of taxpayer rights, particularly as they derive from human rights conventions, constitutional law, and statutes. A videotape of the full conference proceedings will be available for viewing on the Tax Analysts YouTube channel in the coming weeks. The papers presented at the conference will be published in upcoming issues of Tax Notes, State Tax Notes, and Tax Notes International.

In the report, the national taxpayer advocate identifies the most serious problems encountered by taxpayers, in an effort to secure administrative and legislative recommendations to mitigate those problems. Read the full report here.
